How do I know if my PS5 HDMI port is actually broken, or if it’s a deeper motherboard issue?

You can easily diagnose a broken PS5 HDMI port at home by checking the console’s indicator lights. When you power on the PS5, it should pulse blue and then transition to a solid white light. If you see a solid white light but your TV screen stays black or says “No Signal,” your console boots up perfectly fine, but the display output fails. This almost always points directly to physical damage inside the HDMI port.

Shine a phone flashlight into the back of the console to spot the damage. Look for pins you can see pushed out of alignment, bent backward, or missing entirely. (Note: If your console pulses blue continuously and never turns white—the “Blue Light of Death” or BLOD—you do not have an HDMI issue. This indicates a deeper motherboard fault, like a RAM or APU failure, which I also diagnose and fix).

Will repairing the HDMI port delete my downloaded games, accounts, or save data?

Absolutely not. I keep your personal data completely safe. A separate internal NVMe SSD chip securely stores your games, profiles, and save files, safely away from the display components.

I completely bypass the storage drive during the repair. I never ask for your account passwords, and I never factory reset your console software to fix a display issue. Once you drop the console off, the entire process takes roughly 2 to 3 hours certainly same day if dropped of before 4.30pm. Why is “respreading the liquid metal” so important during a PS5 repair?
This is the step that amateur repairers often skip, which ends up destroying the console later. Unlike older consoles that used standard thermal paste, the PS5 uses a highly conductive liquid metal compound to keep the main processor (APU) cool.

To safely replace the HDMI port, the entire motherboard must be removed from its metal shielding. Once that seal is broken, the liquid metal often pools to one side or oxidizes, leaving bare “dry spots” on the processor. If the console is reassembled like this, it will rapidly overheat, sound like a jet engine, and randomly shut down during intensive games. As a mandatory part of our service, we meticulously clean and respread the liquid metal to guarantee your PS5 runs whisper-quiet and remains structurally safe.

They are actually significantly stronger. The original HDMI ports installed at the Sony factory are wave-soldered by automated machines. While this is fast for mass production, it often leaves the structural “anchor” legs of the port with very little solder, making them weak and prone to snapping if the cable is yanked.

We do not use automated shortcuts. We use premium, upgraded HDMI 2.1 replacement ports. More importantly, we manually micro-solder every individual pin and flood the structural anchor legs with high-grade leaded solder using a precision iron.
